  • Facebook presented AR (Augmented Reality) glasses, allowing to strengthen the user’s hearing. The prototype of the device is equipped with headphones and microphones, which capture the surrounding sounds. It follows the movement of the user’s head and eyes to find out what he/she is trying to hear. The headphones amplify the sounds you focus on. Glasses can be used, for example, in noisy restaurants where waiters are exposed to noise over 85 decibels. Staying in such an environment for a long time may pose a threat to their health. However, there are voices that the device may pose a threat to privacy. Facebook may want to use data from users’ recordings to prepare personalized ads. More information here.
  • Trump announced that he plans to expand the collection of biometric data from immigrants. The U.S. immigration services collect fingerprints, photos and signatures of individuals over 14 years of age applying for certain immigration benefits. But under the new regulations, they will also be able to obtain iris scans, voice, hand scans and face recognition photos. The office could also collect DNA. There are voices that it is only a test group to extend biometric surveillance throughout the country. More information here.
  • Google is working on a service that would provide ethical advice to companies building artificial intelligence solutions. The project is to be launched later this year. More information here.
  • Researchers from Cornell University have created the microscopic robots that can be injected into human bodies for surgery. For now they have to be controlled from outside. However, it is anticipated that they will be able to be equipped with artificial brains and batteries, thus giving them independence. More info here.
  • The United States has announced that wants to increase AI funding by 30%. Approximately 1.5 billion dollars would be allocated to AI funding and 699 million dollars to quantum technology. More info here.

  • The Polish government proposes to introduce a new tax relief for CIT and PIT payers. Thus, companies will be able to deduct from the tax base half of the eligible costs incurred in connection with investments in robotization, e.g. purchase of new robots or software. More info here.
