2. The team of researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) has created a new tool called Bayes-TrEx that allows developers and users to gain clarity in the AI models they create. The program helps people better understand and develop artificial intelligence models by finding and highlighting common scenarios. Despite the continued use of AI and its development, people still lack a holistic understanding of artificial intelligence capabilities and behaviors. More info here.
3. The new system has been developed that detects errors in self-administration of medications. Wireless sensor technology could help improve the technique by which patients use inhalers and insulin pens. MIT researchers claim the system, which can be installed at home, could alert patients and caregivers if medication errors occur and potentially reduce unnecessary hospital visits. More info here.
4. The new method called tensor holography has emerged that can enable the creation of holograms for virtual reality, 3D printing, medical diagnostics and can run on a smartphone. AI has been used to generate 3D holograms in real time. More info here.
5. The team of researchers from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has developed a new early warning system for vehicles that uses artificial intelligence to learn from thousands of real-world road situations. The results show that if applied to today’s autonomous vehicles, the system can, with more than 85% accuracy, warn seven seconds in advance of potentially critical situations that cars cannot handle on their own. More info here.
6. According to the Faethm AI forecast, over 1.4 million jobs (4.8 percent of jobs) in the UK could be replaced by automation this year alone. Another 2.9 percent are predicted to be supported by AI. More info here.
7. South Korean chatbot shared on Facebook has been shut down after it began promoting hate against black, lesbian, disabled and transgender people. More info here.
8. Toyota is building a “city of the future” – the Woven City – powered by robots and AI for 2,000 employees and their families. The city will be managed by a single operating system and will have roads designed for autonomous vehicles. The city is to be built in Japan. More info here.
9. NIO wins the 2021 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award. NIO has been recognized for NOMI, in-car artificial intelligence. NOMI is a digital assistant designed for the dashboard that features a face-like interface that rotates and blinks “eyes” to address each vehicle occupant directly. More info here.
